Let’s be real – 2020 was not exactly the easiest year for businesses, especially small businesses. You’ve had to move your business remote, lay off some of your employees, or even temporarily shut down. But now, you are looking to bring your business back and come back greater than ever! Even if you can only invest a small amount, we have outlined some pretty great digital marketing tactics for small businesses with low advertising budgets.
1. Blogging
We live and breathe by the mantra that blogs are one of THE best ways to improve your site’s SEO. Blogs can help you show on Google page 1 and establish credibility with website visitors (who may become potential clients).
Depending on the topic and length of your blog, they typically take 1-3 hours to write. In the grand scheme of things, a couple hours a week is definitely doable for your business. In 5 months, you will look back and be thankful that you started the blogging process! Blogs help drive relevant traffic to your site and can provide you with potential leads.
Pro tip >> Make sure you always include a CTA in your blog
Not only is blogging a great way to target your ideal customer persona, but your blogs can also help you stay top of mind with your current clients. Seriously, we cannot emphasize enough how important it is to include blogging into your digital marketing strategy.
2. Google Search Ads
Whether your business is B2C or B2B, Google Search ads are a great way to advertise on a budget. Google Search ads allow you to drive highly targeted traffic to your site. Essentially, the way Google Search works is, you tell Google the keywords you want to bid on, and if you outbid your competitors, your Search ad will display.
We’ll give you an example. We searched for “best coffee beans” and this is what came up:
Anything with the Ad symbol by it, is a paid search ad. So, these 3 companies are all bidding on keywords including “best coffee beans.” This is a pretty vague keyword and could potentially drive high-volume and irrelevant traffic. If you were on a budget, we would recommend doing some keyword research around what keywords to bid on to really maximize your budget and best target your clients.
3. Facebook Ads
We’ll start off by saying Facebook advertising is a beast and can seem overwhelming when you first look at it all. BUT, don’t be dismayed just yet. Facebook is a great platform for both B2B and B2C businesses. Contrary to a lot of people’s notion that Facebook marketing is only good for eCommerce businesses, Facebook released a bunch of case studies highlighting the success that B2B companies have had.
Facebook ads allow you to get a lot of impressions with a relatively low cost. Facebook also has incredibly detailed audience targeting options, which is great when you are working with a small budget.
At the end of the day, it’s safe to say that your competitors are already on Facebook, Instagram, Google, etc. If you are not getting your brand out there and getting in front of your customers and clients, someone else is.
